So I started using Facebook a while ago, primarily to recruit for my study. That effort has been moderately successful, and there has been a pleasant side effect of re-connection with some people I had given up as lost.
Sometimes Facebook suggests friends for you. Mostly I ignore these requests. For example,I am not likely to friend my students.
Other times there are other users who initiate friend requests. Most of these I ignore without a second thought, but I actually clicked on one today because my interest was piqued. The subject line was this, "José Luis Porucznik added you as a friend on Facebook..."
